Corrections are the fixes that happen on the next space. They are separate from the bar, so you can keep the suggestions and stop the rewriting, or the other way round.

Capitalization, apostrophes, quotes, and spacing tidy up as you type.
Press Space twice to end the sentence with a period. A space the keyboard added after a swipe never counts as the first press.

Custom words
Several things remember a word, and it saves time to know which one you want.

Add names, slang, or jargon the keyboard keeps fighting. They show up as you type, stay correctly spelled, and survive a learned-words reset.
Picks up the names, slang, and jargon you type, not words the dictionary already has.
Learning stays on the device, and clearing it removes the lot at once. Custom words survive a clear, which is why a name you add by hand is the fix that lasts.
Replacements

Type a shortcut, press space, and Clink inserts the phrase. Stays on this device; overrides Settings → Keyboard shortcuts on conflict.
- Open Replacements and add one.
- Put the shortcut in one field and the phrase it turns into in the other.
- Type the shortcut, press space, and the phrase arrives.
